We are able to arrange for an experienced guide, perfectly fluent in English and quite knowledgeable about the culture and the economy, to accompany you on your various excursions in the Faroe Islands. If you so desire, your excursions can be made by private car for an extra fee. Please check with FST for details.

2008 Day Tours Departing from Tórshavn

FST 1: Tórshavn- The Smallest Capital in the
World
Monday 8:30 AM -12:30 PM & Thursday 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM

A combined trip where we travel by foot and by bus. Here you get a good view of the town and its history.
We start off with a bus trip where we stop at unique view points and on to the newer parts of Tórshavn. Also we take a walk in the old part of Tórshavn. We visit Á Reyni, Tinganes and fort Skansin.

FST 2: Encounter the Northern Isles
Tuesday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

A whole day excursion to the Northern Islands. An opportunity to experience several islands. En route visits to a Viking Settlement in Leirvík, Church in Klaksvík and Tøting- wool factory.

FST 3: Cruise on the Schooner
Norðlýsið

A schooner cruise between the islands from the East harbor in Tórshavn.Included: Boat trip. Price: US$45.00 per person.

FST 4:Fishing trip with the schooner Norðlýsið
Tuesday 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM & Thursday 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Fishing in the cleanest ocean in the world. Sail between the islands and you are free to take the catch home with you. Departure from the East Harbor in Tórshavn.

FST 5:Faroese Cultural Night - at the Theater in Tórshavn
June-July: Tuesday 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Faroese cultural night in fine settings. Faroese prose and poetry is performed by local artists. Traditional Faroese dance will be performed and the guests are welcome to participate. Possibility to taste traditional Faroese food. Price: US$70.00 per person.

FST 6:Panorama & Vestmanna Bird Cliffs
Wednesday 8:30 AM -1:30 PM, Thursday 12:30 PM-4:30 PM & Saturday 4:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Via the mountain road to Vestmanna where the excursion boat awaits. The boat sails along the cliff wall, into a narrow strait and into some of the many grottoes. On the return to Tórshavn stop at the Viking settlements in Kvívík.

FST 7:The Old Cultural Centre of Kirkjubø
Wednesday 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Visit the 900-year old "Roykstovan", where people still live today. The ruins of the historical St. Magnus Cathedral which is the cultural center of Faroese culture. Enjoy the Olav´s Church from the year 1111 and the church from the Middle Ages which is still in use and is the oldest church on the Faroes.

FST 8:View from Sornfelli
Thursday 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM & Friday 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
By coach, via the mountain road, to Mount Sornfelli (749 m) where the view over the islands is absolutely fantastic. Return to Tórshavn along the coast.

FST 9:In the King’s Footstep—Tórshavn & Nólsoy
Friday 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
The theme for this excursion is the King of Denmark's first visit to the Faroe Islands. Starting at the obelisk ”Kings Memorial” and continuing on foot to the harbor ”King’s Pier” where the ferry to Nólsoy awaits. In Nólsoy lunch is served and afterwards a walk out to ”Stongin”.

FST 10:Northern Part of Eysturoy
Saturday 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Driving past the old whaling station Áir to the villages of Gjógv and Funning. The stone formations ”The Giant and the Hag” – Risin & Kellingin – are a spectacular viewpoint from Eiði and here you can also see the highest mountain on the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur (882 m). Visit to Saksun – a small village surrounded by high mountains in beautiful settings.

FST 11:Visit Historic Sandoy
Sunday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
All day excursion with coach and ferry to this beautiful island, where traditional Faroese lifestyle can still be experienced. There are many places of interest on this island such as puffin colonies and bird cliffs. The island is also enriched with history and fantastic nature. Most of the villages on the island will be visited.

FST 12:Visit to Vágoy
Monday 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Via the mountain road to Norðadalsskarð where the view over the island of Koltur is extraordinary. Further on to Leynar via the Kollafjarðadal to the new tunnel under the Vestmanna Sound. The 4.9 km long tunnel leads to the island of Vágoy where we visit the villages of Sandavág, Miðvág and Sørvág. A stop at the airport, before we head on to the village of Bø and towards Gásadal, you have a magnificent view over Tindhólm and Mykines.
Included: Guide/Coach.Price: US$76.00 per person.


Private Home Visit-Private home visits can be arranged for coffe and cakes (US$86.00) and for dinner (US$106.00).Minimum of two people.


Daily Excursions are available from May, 28th to mid September. All above excursions start from Tórshavn. The excursions listed are guaranteed - not subject to minimum numbers of participants. However, Some excursions are weather dependent, for example sailing & hiking & viewpoint tours.

Tours are available in low season from September to May with a minimum number of 4 persons.
Program is subject to change.

Other: Please note that we can offer other excursions in different areas around the Faroes such as boat tours, coach tours, hiking – and riding tours and helicopter tours. Most of these are based on a small minimum.

Faroese Cultural Evenings

Experience Faroese Lyrics and Poetry performed in English, Faroese and Danish by local artists.
Have a taste of Faroese food specialties and take part in the traditional Faroese Chain dance.

Note: FST recommends booking independent, customized travel plans as it is not uncommon for pre-package escorted multi-day tours offered in the Faroe Islands to be canceled each year due to failure to achieve minimum passenger bookings.
